Because every person is unique, I take an integrative approach, drawing from different therapeutic models to tailor our work together

GET IN TOUCH

Hi, I’m
Stephanie Costa

Helping people feel understood, supported, and able to grow is at the heart of my work as a counselor. I hold an MA in Social Work and an MA in Counseling, and I’m trained in CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Social Thinking, as well as being an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider.

I work with teens, and adults to build resilience, improve communication, and navigate challenges with confidence. I’ve supported students like Sara, who learned practical strategies to manage anxiety, and adults like Anna, who gained insight and tools to manage bipolar disorder and emotional regulation.

My Counseling

My counseling approach is person-centred, meaning I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore your thoughts and experiences at your own pace.

I integrate principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and make meaningful changes in daily life. My aim is to support you in building insight, resilience, and a deeper sense of wellbeing.

WHERE I WORK

Now based in Maputo, Mozambique, I continue to offer counseling and wellbeing support within the international community. My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and practical, meeting clients where they are and helping them find ways forward that feel right for them.

    Online sessions

An email with a link will be sent for the online session. Clicking on the link will connect us.

If we have internet issues, we will find another way.

Here are some useful tips for remote / online sessions:

Have the computer or mobile set up ready before the session starts. This includes having the microphone and video turned on.

I will have the computer set up at a height so you can see my face.

Please let me know if anyone else is within earshot of the session.

If you are using a computer, have access to a mobile phone nearby just in case the sound on the computer is poor. In such cases it is possible to stay connected, with the microphone muted, whilst speaking through the mobile with the speaker switched on.

Do not have your back to a window or light – this can make it very hard to be seen on screen clearly.

Using headphones can increase your privacy and confidentiality as other people cannot overhear your two way conversation.
